We’re delighted to support Rashila Tamang and her local community in Dhunibesi, Dhading, around 30 km west of Kathmandu, with the distribution and planting of 2,000 fruit trees.

The project includes a diverse mix of fruit species, including mango, avocado, lychee, guava, pear, persimmon, lemon and other locally valuable varieties. These trees will provide nutritious food, create long-term income for families, help restore the local environment, and strengthen resilience for future generations.

This latest plantation is also the beginning of an exciting new project to develop a community forest on barren land close to Rashila’s village. The 2,000 trees planted this year are the first batch of a planned 5,000 trees, with a further 3,000 trees to be planted during the 2027 monsoon.

At Nepal Evergreen, we believe that planting trees is about much more than increasing forest cover. It’s about empowering local communities, improving livelihoods, restoring degraded land and giving people the opportunity to invest in their own future.

This project is supported by Adventure Base in Chamonix with a donation of £1,500, their second donation to support Nepal Evergreen’s tree-planting projects in Nepal. Their contribution helps offset the carbon footprint of their operations while directly supporting practical, community-led environmental projects.

This is the third plantation project we’ve undertaken with Rashila, whose passion and commitment to her community continue to inspire us. We’re looking forward to seeing these first 2,000 trees become established, the next 3,000 planted in 2027, and this new community forest grow and benefit the village for many years to come.
