In November 2021, volunteers from Juniper Trust distributed the final 4,000 fruit trees to local households and families in Nepal’s Kinja Valley, bringing the 2021 total to 10,000 trees delivered directly to communities.
In addition, a further 2,000 trees—1,000 lemon trees and 1,000 walnut trees—were allocated for forest planting across the Kinja Valley, supporting reforestation, biodiversity restoration, and long-term environmental resilience.
The saplings were ordered six months in advance from nurseries in the Kathmandu Valley. As part of a long-term reforestation and livelihoods programme, these trees are expected to provide fruit and nuts for up to 25 years, benefiting both villages and surrounding ecosystems.
This very worthwhile initiative has received an incredibly positive response in Nepal.
