Who we are

In partnership with the Juniper Trust, an organization founded in 1994 by a group of volunteers. JT has grown and supported numerous worthwhile projects worldwide. Its fundamental vision remains unchanged from its inception: to work in a low-impact, sustainable manner, addressing the needs of the poorest communities, especially children, in the developing world by actively listening to their concerns.

One of the initiatives organized by the Juniper Trust is Nepal Evergreen, which emerged from providing support to schools affected by earthquakes. This volunteer-based initiative enables visitors to offset their carbon footprint and contribute to local communities. Through supporting Nepal Evergreen, visitors play a role in preserving the environment, supporting livelihoods, and fostering a sustainable future for Nepal.

The Juniper Trust operates with volunteers, ensuring that 100% of any donation is allocated directly to the intended project without any overhead or administrative expenses.

Abhishek Pandey
Abhishek has been instrumental in the Juniper Trust’s work in Nepal since the 2015 earthquake, supervising the reconstruction of the 20 schools rebuilt by the Juniper Trust. Raju Khatri
Raju is an agriculture graduate focused on sustainable farming, soil health, and ecosystem restoration. He supervises Nepal Evergreen’s tree-planting programmes, including field verification, soil carbon testing, and biodiversity monitoring, while also developing skills in drone technology and remote sensing to support precision agriculture and more resilient land management in Nepal. He also works on identifying crop diseases and practical solutions for farmers. 🌱
Sunita
Sunita, known as Raindrop, grew up in Ilam surrounded by tea gardens and cardamom fields. Inspired by her parents’ love of nature, she developed a deep connection to plants and the natural world from an early age. This passion led her to volunteer in afforestation and conservation initiatives. Today, as part of the team at Mountain Lodges of Nepal, she supports Nepal Evergreen’s work in sustainability, tree planting, and community-based environmental projects. 🌱
Rashila Tamang
Growing up in Dhunibesi near Kathmandu, Rashila Tamang’s daily chores on steep hills built the strength and endurance that led her into trail running, competing in events such as the Everest Marathon, Malaysia Mountain Trail, and UTMB races in Chamonix. In 2024 she raised funds to plant 2,000 trees in her village, followed by 3,000 fruit trees in surrounding communities in 2025. In 2026, we will launch our third spring monsoon plantation in these villages, continuing our collaboration with Rashila and her community projects.
Durlav Roy Chowdhury
Durlav, a renowned photographer whose work has appeared in National Geographic and other international magazines, volunteers his skills to document the communities benefiting from our projects. He regularly accompanies Nepal Evergreen’s plantation work, working with farmers and capturing the planting process. Through his photography, he helps share the impact of our work and raise awareness for conservation and community-led initiatives.
Dabal Bahadur Basne
Dabal’s dedication to sustainable farming has earned him several prestigious farming awards. His commitment to environmental stewardship and land management is clear in his focus on reforesting and revitalising the land. By combining traditional farming knowledge with modern practices, he has created a model of sustainability others can follow. Since 2021, he has helped Nepal Evergreen plant over 30,000 fruit trees across local communities, helping restore family incomes and regenerate forests.

Geraldine, a freelance graphic designer residing in Chamonix, is committed to utilizing her skills to address the impact of tourism on global warming. Her passion lies in contributing to the Nepal Evergreen projects and creating a positive environmental impact.
GlennRowley
Glenn’s passion for the Himalayas and extensive travels there over the past 40 years have led him to actively help the people in the region. As a Trustee of The Juniper Trust, his work has naturally progressed towards the Nepal Evergreen projects.

As dedicated volunteers, our primary focus is to improve the lives of local communities in Nepal while simultaneously mitigating the carbon footprint associated with tourism. We achieve this by sourcing funding and resources to support tree planting initiatives that promote biodiversity conservation and foster sustainability practices. Through our collective efforts, we aim to engage individuals and communities, provide the necessary resources, and coordinate tree-planting activities. Our goal is to enhance the well-being of local communities, protect the environment, and work towards a more sustainable future for Nepal.
