Dable joined the army at just 19 years old, serving for 17 years before leaving in 2013. He returned to his ancestral home in the Airmakhue, where his family owns 3,700 acres of terraced farmland that has been in the family for over 300 years.
His dream was to reforest his land and create a self-sufficient homestay, now known as Mountain Agro Resort and Lodge. A major focus has been on planting kiwi: to date, over 3,000 kiwi plants have been planted, a mix of red and green varieties. The red kiwis are used to make local wines, while the green kiwis are sold in local markets and in Kathmandu.
Alongside this, Dable has planted lemon, almond, apricot, and tea, all using organic and sustainable farming practices that set a shining example of best practice. He is now completely self-sufficient in vegetables for the lodge and has won several awards for his farming efforts.
To further restore the landscape, the project has also planted 2,000 alder trees, a native species, specifically to replant deforested areas around the farm—helping to rebuild soils, restore biodiversity, and strengthen long-term ecosystem resilience.
