Kukhure Chaur is a small agricultural village in Dhading District, just 20 km from Kathmandu. Nestled among terraced hills near Dhunibesi, the community is deeply rooted in traditional farming and rich cultural heritage, with easy access via local roads and trekking trails.
In 2024, local runner Rashila took on the 100km CCC race at UTMB in Chamonix to raise funds for her village. She successfully raised $1,500, which helped plant 1,000 fruit trees—including walnut, lychee, mango, avocado, and lemon—donated to smallholdings throughout the area. For Rashila, it’s her running—and the publicity it brings—that gives her the opportunity to raise global awareness about the environmental challenges faced by Nepal. She’s driven by a deep desire to give back to her community and inspire others to take meaningful action.
Encouraged by the impact so far, Rashila hopes to raise another $1,500 in 2025 to continue expanding the project. Word is already spreading to surrounding villages, and interest is growing. With resources ready and communities eager to participate, we’re prepared to plant even more saplings—as soon as we can fly them in. This is a powerful initiative that’s not only reforesting the hillsides but also strengthening local livelihoods and community resilience.
